RiSE to Battle: Battle Rules and Format
Battles utilize a double-elimination tournament format that allows competitors two losses before being eliminated from the competition.
Teams compete within their assigned battle class based on age. With a number of pre-evet scrimmages and mini events. teams will have ample opportunity to design and refine their bots prior to the regional event.
Robot Inspection and Battle Ready Certification
Immediately prior to any battle, robots must be inspected for compliance with components, construction, control, size, and weight limits. Upon successful completion of the inspection a piece of 2x2 inch color duct tape in the appropriate team color, and with the battle number, will be placed on the top of the robot.

2. Comply with control and communication protocols.
3. Comply with all weapon and Sharps rules.
4. Fit within a 11x11x11 inch cube with no part other than tether extending out.
5. Weigh less than 10 lbs. (Battle ready, batteries installed)

Referees
The winner of the battle is determined by the Field Referee. The determination is based on a bot's ability to continue to battle or, in the case of both bots finishing the battle, by the winner of the best of the three rounds.
Winning a Round
1. A Bot is considered immobilized if it is not capable of motion for 10 seconds.
Lack of motion can be caused by damage received or by internal/equipment failure

2. A Bot is considered Forced out of the arena if any part of its body, or equipment (other than the tether) crosses the outer boundary of the 2-inch-wide tape.
3. At the end of a round, if no Bot has been driven out of the arena or immobilized the winner is determined by the Referee. The Referee will base their decision on the merits of damage given, aggression shown, or control of the arena. They will announce the reasoning for the decision.
Rounds decided by the Referee are announced at the end of that round.
