RISE for Tomorrow Biomimicry
As we look at the world of tomorrow it is more important then ever that we learn to build technology in harmony with nature. From efficient mobility to conservation of energy to utilization of available resources nature has always found a way to solve its problems and build stronger systems. Biomimicry is the science of looking at nature, and its systems, and seeing how we can apply its principles to our future.
This program is open for schools and social clubs of students in grades 4-6. Any school may apply for a first year grant of up to three complete build kits free of charge and donated by our sponsors. |
On our website you will find a list of authorized components, and educational materials on the use of each. These will include various Arduino based micro controllers, various electronic sensors, motors, gears and pullies as well as building materials like balsa wood, plastic, tape, and household products.
Each item will be assigned a resource point cost based on its unique properties. A builder my request a review of any item not listed and, if approved for use, the item will be listed on the board for ALL players for that challenge. Each season a new challenge will be set. These may include things like, climb a four-foot rope, travel up an inclined plane with out the use of wheels, Stack objects, or collect specific items from a playing field. |
TEAM Work + Nature + Science = Tomorrow
Competing in teams of 3 to 5 students, teams will have 3 months to build, design, and test and autonomous robot to complete the task and bring the robot to a regional meet where they will compete against their peers.
Winning teams will earn trophies and points for their schools for the purchase of new equipment from the core list for the next years competition.
